Caring for houseplants doesn’t come naturally to everyone, and learning some tips & tricks along the way helps to improve your skills. It has definitely helped mine! Therefore, if I can pass along any useful information to other plant parents out there, I’m happy to do so.
While I’ve explored many different kinds of plants over the past few years, I naturally stick to ones that are more common. Tropical and unusual houseplants aren’t my specialty. I love all kinds of philodendrons, pothos, and hoyas, as well as African violets, and jade plants. Every once in a while, I may experiment and branch out, but I’ve learned what works for me and my home. Honestly, that’s one of the most important lessons to learn. Some houseplants thrive in certain areas, and others just don’t, unless you’ve created a greenhouse-type environment for them to live in.
It’s an extremely rewarding hobby, taking care of houseplants. I find it to be calming, grounding, and pretty remarkable at times. There’s nothing like seeing new growth you’ve helped develop and flowers bloom from your care. There will be hard times as well, but the tips & tricks of others out there will help keep you moving forward in your journey.
