If you are looking for an all-natural, budget-friendly hand soap that cleans well and smells great, this is the one for you. Made with castile soap and essential oils, you have peace of mind, knowing exactly what you are washing your hands with.
Castile Soap
Castile soap is a natural, vegetable-based soap. It is non-toxic and biodegradable. Dr. Bronner’s brand contains carrier oils (coconut oil, jojoba oil, olive oil) that make adding essential oils super easy. Just remember: The dilution ratio is 1:10, soap:water. It is a concentrated and powerful cleaning agent, but it is also super gentle and environmentally-safe.
Essential Oils
You want to add essential oil(s) to this recipe for a couple of reasons. The obvious one is the smell. Who doesn’t love the smell of a good hand soap? The second reason is for the properties of the essential oils. To add to it’s cleaning ability, there are a few essential oils that have antibacterial and/or antimicrobial properties. For example, these essential oils include lavender, peppermint, tea tree, cedarwood, eucalyptus, lemongrass, lemon, clary sage, and oregano.
Personally, I like to use Dr. Bronner’s Castile Soap as well as a mix of lavender and sage essential oils. Shop the products here. Please note that at first, the soap will feel watered down in comparison to the ones you are used to, but it is cleaning your hands. Look at the suds!
