Farmhouse is the base of my design style. Many believe it is out of style, but it’s the life I enjoy living. I have a small homestead, and my interior decor reflects upon what makes me feel peaceful in life. I prioritize practicality and simplicity, while highlighting rustic and vintage charm. Bringing together the aesthetics of rural architecture and modern comforts, I enjoy a design that is cozy, neutral, and full of natural materials.
Farmhouse style directly reflects my personality, as well. I love the outdoors, and feel grounded in nature. Promoting peaceful and intentional spaces through design is important to me. I try to be as practical as possible, while still bringing in design aspects that read cozy and well-loved.
My main goal when designing a space is to first answer the question, “What would best serve our family?” For me, this makes me think of our basic needs and how to meet them within a space. Then, I let myself get creative with the finishing touches.
My husband and I enjoy a good DIY, and often take on projects ourselves, from creating simple shelves to completely gutting our kitchen. We don’t have any background in the area, but we have learned quite a bit over the past few years!
Currently, we live in a cape-style home that was originally a barn, built in 1896. It’s our first home, and we have worked hard to improve the space to better fit our family’s needs, especially during the pandemic. Now, as it is mainly complete, it feels like it reflects our family and our interests wonderfully.
